These are high buck laptops and I don't know about anyone else in this forum, but I don't buy high buck laptops with low expectations. I think we should file a class action lawsuit and force them to either make a permanent repair and do it right, or give us our money back. I've read the posts on this for almost a year. One of the sensors is reporting 102 degress centigrade (which is not right) and I think I have to RMA it again to get it fixed. My latest issue is now with the fans, they run at 100% all the time and I can't get the machine to shut down properly or reboot. I sent it back to Asus and they 'repaired' it which didn't really change anything and they didn't reassemble my laptop correctly after they completed the 'repair' so now I have a broken screw mount and the hand rest isn't solidly in place anymore. I've dealt with the touchpad issue since the day I bought this POS. I'm not too happy that I had to completely disassemble a $1200 laptop in order to fix 2 issues due to poor design, but I have to admit that I love what this machine can do after I have fixed its problems. I'm firmly convinced that this strange tape is for whatever reason causing the touchpad to malfunction. It's been 2 months now and I have not had an issue with the touchpad after removing the tape. Since I had to completely disassemble the machine to repaste the GPU I decided to revisit the touchpad issue and removed the silver tape on the bottom of the touchpad.
